How to pack like a pro for camp this summer
The sun is out, the snow is long gone, and we’re counting down the days, hours and minutes till school’s out and camp’s in. Check out our top tips for what to pack in your summer camp bag!
the essentials
- You know…clothes, toiletries, all those boring-but-necessary items. Make sure to pack a variety of items (tees, long-sleeves, a jacket or warm sweater, pants & shorts) so that no matter what the weather you can be like, ‘no big deal, Mother Nature, I got this.’
- Hear this: no one cares what anyone wears at camp. Seriously. Plus your things will probably get dirty, so apart from one special outfit for the banquet or talent show, no need to dress to impress.
- Don’t forget your sunglasses & a hat so you can look cool AND stay protected from the sun.
the extras
- A disposable or inexpensive camera to capture your favourite moments
- A notebook & pen for doodling, daydreaming & writing down all the cool things you learn and ideas you cook up
- A good book
- Some extra cash for souvenir shopping at the ME to WE store ($20-$50)
- A flashlight (great for making spooky faces/playing shadow games)
(psst… please leave your phone, laptop, iPad, pet robot, etc at home. After an hour at camp we promise you won’t even miss ‘em! Camp is all about living in the moment.)
pro-tips
- Label your stuff—including your water bottle!
- Pack a white shirt/pillowcase/pair of socks/etc to tie-dye (just make sure mom is okay with that item coming home with a multicoloured makeover)
- Are you the next Mozart? Bring your instrument for the talent show!
- Bring a small backpack for day trips
seriously, don’t forget…
- A pillowcase and a sleeping bag or blankets & bedding
- A towel & wash cloth, because staying clean is always a good idea
- A good pair of shoes
- Your coolest pair of PJs (and if you can’t live without your fuzzy slippers, throw those in too)
