ME to WE Takes Off to the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games

Think of the Olympics. Now, imagine a completely eco-friendly and sustainable Olympic village. And events that range from traditional Olympic sports to workshops that promote healthy lifestyles for young athletes—all of whom are between the ages of 15 and 18.

This and so much more will come to life at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China; the second-ever summer Youth Olympic Games. Organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), all sporting events, participating countries and sporting arenas will mirror that of the larger well-known Olympic Games and will include 28 competitive sports, 3,500 young athletes and cultural and education programming in multiple sporting arenas throughout the city.

We’re is so honoured to be taking part in the games by sending ME to WE Youth Delegates from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Kenya as special guests of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee. From August 16 to 28, the delegates, alongside Craig Kielburger, co-founder of ME to WE, will travel to different stadiums and events and speak to youth about the power they have to create positive change—all while cheering on the world’s best young athletes as they compete for gold.

If that’s not cool enough Craig will also be speaking at the UNESCO World Youth Forum on Sport, Culture and Peace happening simultaneously in Nanjing!

We’re so looking forward to this incredible adventure and can’t wait to share all the stories and experiences with you as they happen!
